pá†idesaníya 1

"yo pana bhikkhu aññátikáya bhikkhuiyá anta ragharaµ pavi††háya hatthato khádaníyaµ vá bhojaníyaµ vá sahatthá pa†iggahetvá khádeyya vá bhuñjeyya vá, pa†idesetabbaµ tena bhikkhuná "gárayhaµ ávuso dhammaµ ápajjiµ asappáyaµ pá†idesanyíaµ, taµ pa†idesemí" ti."

Not to accept food from a bhikkhuní. A bhikkhu must not accept food from the hands of a bhikkhuní who is not of his family. If he accepts it with his hands (or his bowl), he commits a dukka†a. If he eats it, he commits a pá†idesaníya with each mouthful.

pá†idesaníya 2

"bhikkhú paneva kulesu nimantitá bhuñjanti, tatra cesá bhikkhuní vosásamánarúpá †hitá hoti "idha súpaµ detha, idha odanaµ" ti. tehi bhikkhúhi sá bhikkhuní apatádetabbá "apasakka táva bhagini, yáva bhikkhú bhuñjantí" ti. ekassa pi ce bhikkhuno nappa†ibháseyya taµ bhikkhuniµ apasádetuµ "apasakka táva bhagini, yáva bhikkhú bhuñjantí" ti. pa†idesetabbaµ tehi bhikkhúhi "gárayhaµ ávuso dhammaµ ápajjimhá asappáyaµ pa†idesaníyaµ, taµ pa†idesemá" ti."

Order the bhikkhunís who manage the service to the bhikkhus to go somewhere else during the meal. When the bhikkhus eat, if there are bhikkhunís giving instructions for their serving, they must be firmly told to go somewhere else, and not to stay there while the bhikkhus eat. If there is not at least one bhikkhu who tells this to the bhikkhunís, each bhikkhu present commits a dukka†a when accepting the food. By eating this food, a bhikkhu commits a pá†idesaníya with each mouthful.

If the bhikkhunís manage a service in order to serve more favourably the more respectable bhikkhus and less favourably the less respectable bhikkhus, even without saying anything to the bhikkhunís, the bhikkhus do not commit an offence by accepting and eating the food under those conditions.

If the bhikkhunís wish to make a gift of food by asking the laity to offer it to the bhikkhus, the latter do not commit an offence by accepting or eating this food. However, if a bhikkhu accepts the food from the hands of a bhikkhuní, he commits the pá†idesaníya 1. If a bhikkhuní asks someone to serve a bhikkhu who has not yet got anything to eat, the latter does not commit an offence by accepting and eating this food.

pá†idesaníya 3

"yáni khopana táni sekkhasammatáni kuláni, yo pana bhikkhu tathárúpesu sekkhasammatesu kulesu pubbe animantito agiláno khádaníyaµ vá bhojaníyaµ vá sahatthá pa†iggahetvá khádeyya vá bhuñjeyya vá, pa†idesetabbaµ tena bhikkhuná "gárayhaµ ávuso dhammaµ ápajjiµ asappáyaµ pá†idesanyíaµ, taµ pa†idesemí" ti."

Not to accept food from poor people who show remarkable fervor towards the dhamma, without having been invited by them. If a bhikkhu presents himself – with his bowl – in front of the dwelling of such people – who hardly have the means to attend to their own needs –, without having been invited by them, and without being ill, and accepts with his own hands the food offered by them and eats it, he commits a pá†idesaníya.

pá†idesaníya 4

"yáni kho pana táni áraññakáni senásanáni sásakiýgasammatáni sappa†ibhayáni, yo pana bhikkhu tathárúpesu senásanesu pubbe appa†isaµviditaµ khádaníyaµ vá bhojaníyaµ vá, ajjháráme sahatthá pa†iggahetvá agiláno khádeyya vá bhuñjeyya vá, pa†idesetabbaµ tena bhikkhuná "gárayhaµ ávuso dhammaµ ápajjiµ asappáyaµ pá†idesanyíaµ, taµ pa†idesemí" ti."

Not to eat the food offered by donors whom one has not previously warned of an existing danger in the area. If a bhikkhu who lives in a monastery situated in an area where there is some serious trouble or some danger, accepts with his hands food offered by a dáyaka whom he has not previously warned of these troubles or danger, without being ill, he commits a dukka†a. If he eats this food, he commits a pá†idesaníya with each mouthful.
